While regulators tighten exterior lighting rules, China's cabin lighting sector is getting its own quality benchmark: the Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association has opened a group standard project for the light quality of in-car LED interior luminaires covering dome, reading and ambient lights, and is recruiting drafting members, industry media reported in late October.

The initiative responds to satisfaction data presented at a 2026 smart cabin summit showing lighting ranked last among cabin experience dimensions in new energy vehicle NPS research, even as ambient light fitment jumped from 27.8 percent of models in 2022 to 57.9 percent in 2025. Common complaints include night glare, windscreen reflections, mixed color temperatures and aged RGB white. RINA TECHNOLOGY treats consistent color and calibrated output as core specifications for its LED ambient strips and door welcome lights.
