FORVIA HELLA has received the DVN Technology Award for its FlatLight µMX lighting technology, recognized by Driving Vision News on September 9, 2026, in Shanghai. The ultra-thin LED light guide uses micro-optics smaller than a grain of salt to reduce module depth by up to 90%, integrating daytime running lights, turn indicators, position lights and rear/stop functions into a single five-millimeter unit.

The system is already in series production for rear lamps since 2024 and front DRL implementations, with customer projects totaling a mid three-digit million-euro volume. It is up to 80% lighter and 40% to 80% more energy-efficient per application than comparable solutions, helping electric vehicles extend range and freeing front-end design space.
