Lumileds has announced it is expanding its manufacturing operations in Penang, Malaysia, adding dedicated automotive lighting production lines to improve operational efficiency and meet rising customer demand. The company will install two high-volume LUXEON Go production lines for headlamp and advanced lighting assemblies, and has already begun production of its LUXEON LxN integrated LED vehicle signal solution at the Penang facility. Lumileds is also transferring its Thin-Film Flip-Chip process to the site, strengthening the plant's end-to-end LED manufacturing and integrated component capabilities.
In 2025 Lumileds launched LUXEON Altilon SMD-A for forward lighting and LUXEON Versat 2016 for exterior styling applications including grille lamps, daytime running lights, and personalized animated lighting. The company is also advancing Micro LED technology through a research partnership with Eindhoven University of Technology that demonstrated chip-level metasurface structures doubling on-axis intensity.
